Extending Partnerships

This BLOG will detail a NSW 2005 Learnscope Project. The project is about researching learning solutions and gathering ideas that will work for Indigenous people using delivery of blended/online courses. Strategies will be identified in how to create a learning environment where new knowledge, skills and ideas are constructed in a user friendly technology based system.

Extending the Partnership

More people started today! Here is the picture of everyone in the group!
On the first day of the week the group meets for the morning. On the second day the Tharawal Community buses everyone to the TAFE College at Campbelltown. Everyone had lots of stories to tell and are enjoying the beginning of the course.

Great news the Aboriginal Community Development Officer has asked for short courses for those people that attend the playsession once a week. Discussion centred on Introduction to Computers (yeah!) , Personal Grooming and Arts and Crafts for Children. Certainly important to establish those personal links and helps develop the partnership and extend the way courses can be delivered.

First day!!!

Today was our first day and we had lots of people! Everyone was really excited about the whole project. the first subject will be First Aid which will give everyone confidence as there is little to write and very practically orientated. Talked at lengths with the facilitator about using elearning as Senior First Aid is available as NSW Learningware. We discussed pros and cons about using elearning and at this stage we will settle everyone into the course before considering some alternatives.

Children Services Gets Started

Great news we are to start the Introduction to Children's Services course with Tharawal. The Tharawal lands council has been very supportive in advertising and encouraging interest in the course. It made me think how importan it is to establish the partnership and talk to people in the community. The Childrens' Services from Campbelltown have established firm links with the Tharawal Community.

We had 5 students turn up today for orientation and we hope when we start next week more will arrive!
